May 1921 - Meeting to form Masterton Sketch Club

28 June 1921 - 9 women form committee Amateur Sketch Club.

President: Eva Dalziell. Secretary/Treasurer: Constance Free

Aims To promote the study and practise of Fine arts in the Wairarapa district.

Hold monthly meetings at members’ homes.

Critics paid Mrs Turner, T.A McCormack, S McClennan

Exhibitions Exhibitions in local municipal buildings.

Sketching field trips, musical recital, fancy dress parties, etc.

Eva Dalziell

1921 Founder of Masterton Amateur Sketch Club.

She was the first President and retained this position until 1937 (16 years).

The Dalziell family, 2 sons and a daughter lived at ‘Manawa’ Tinui. Later at ‘Ryefield’ Upper Plain. Eva enjoyed her garden and painted it often. Exhibited in Wellington Academy of fine Arts. Life member of Masterton Art Club.
